Over 30 years ago, after the release of the blockbuster movie Star Wars, the toy world was turned on its ear by the release of Kenner's Star Wars action figure line. Made up of numerous 3 3/4" figures, representing practically every character to appear in the film, the Star Wars line would redefine how action figures were produced, designed and collected.
The original wave of figures, which didn't hit shelves until almost a year after the movie opened, consisted of 12 key characters from the movie, to this day referred to as "12 back" figures, coining the phrase from the original blister cards that showed all 12 figures on the back.
Today, these figures are some of those most sought after collectibles on the market and avid fans will pay hefty prices for such a gem.
In this article, we'll take a look at one of the original 12 back figures, that farm boy with a destiny, Luke Skywalker.
