Optimus Prime, the most recognizable of all Transformers, actually has his origins in Japan.
Optimus Prime is known as Convoy in Japan, and his origins can be traced to Takara's toy line Diaclone. Hasbro worked in conjunction with Takara to bring these toys to the United States. Today, the transforming tractor trailer is one of the most memorable of all Transformers characters.
