Top 10 Action Figure Websites

By

Hopefully About.Com Action Figures meets all your online action figure needs, with its reviews, spotlights, checklists and more, but there are a number of fantastic websites to dedicated to action figures across the internet. It'd be impossible to feature all of the great sites across the web in one list, so I've included ten of my favorite sites below, in no particular order.

There's something to enjoy about each of the following sites, but don't limit your online experience to just the following ten sites, because many more good ones exist in the action figure community.

Toy News International

There are a number of great things about Toy News International (or TNI as it's commonly known). It gathers a staggering amount of news from the action figure industry, typically featuring multiple news entries every day. There are also tons of galleries and features to enjoy when not reading news updates. And Toy News International's best feature is probably its robust and active forum featuring thousands of collectors discussing various lines, companies, and figures.

Seibertron.com

Whereas many sites focus on a breadth of lines and brands, Seibertron.com focuses specifically on Transformers, and readers benefit from that fact. The site features some of the most incredible, far-reaching, and expert opinions on the world of Transformers. There are extensive galleries of every Transformers figure imaginable, a huge forum with a huge number of collectors, and constant news on every single aspect of the brand. If you're a Transformers fan, there's no better resource than Seibertron.com

OAFE

OAFE (which stands for Online Action Figure Entertainment) has had a number of interesting features throughout the years, such as editorials, comics, and a strong forum. But the reason collectors keep coming back to the site is the variety of reviews posted regularly. The group running the site are all long-time collectors with bold opinions on their figures, and they aren't shy about sharing them. OAFE reviews are detailed and honest, and there's a lot of them to enjoy.

Figures.com

Figure.com is another site that takes advantage of the constant stream of action figure news that other sites miss. Every single piece of news seems to make its way to Figures.com's slick front page, giving collectors a lot of fresh content. There are also active forums, a variety of reviews, and a network of great sites like Yo Joe! and One Sixth Warriors in the Figures.com pantheon.

MWCToys.com

It's difficult to give MWCToys.com a name. It's Captain Toy, it's Michael's Review of the Week, and it's MWCToys.com. No matter what you call it, it's the ultimate home of action figure reviews by expert action figure reviewer Michael Crawford. When it comes to reviewing toys, Crawford is the absolute expert in the industry. The photos are incredible, the reviews are well written, and the number and breadth of toys reviewed is astounding. To top it all off, MWCToys.com is the home of the Poppies, one of the most widely-recognized annual action figure awards.

The Toyark

The Toyark is a news site with one of the internet's most active discussion forums. News from every genre and brand of action figures is gathered on The Toyark, but collectors seeking more specific sites can enjoy popular stops like HissTank and TransformerWorld2005, a part of The Toyark network. The forums, great photo galleries, and features keep collectors a part of The Toyark.

Pixel-Dan.com

The online world of action figures has always been a little behind other hobbies, with many popular sites developing more recently and never lasting as long. In particular, video reviews of action figures lagged behind, but Pixel Dan changed that. He is the most prominent and professional video reviewer of action figures on the internet, and they're all gathered at Pixel-Dan.com for collectors' convenience. Pixel-Dan.com also includes news, editorials, and a number of other features.

He-Man.org

With the rise in popularity of He-Man and Masters of the Universe, He-Man.org rose up to meet collectors' needs. It features everything imaginable that's related to the He-Man universe, including but not limited to dedicated discussion forums, a plethora of news and features, figure archives, photo galleries, and an encyclopedia. If you're a fan of He-Man, there is no better site on the internet.

TOMOPOP

TOMOPOP stretches the boundaries of what most collectors would consider action figures by addressing the larger collectible and art toy culture. It features more alternative toy and action figure news alongside standard fare. Coverage of vinyl figures, foreign releases, and independent companies is not unusual for TOMOPOP, offering visitors a wider variety of content than normal. There are great galleries, reviews, and forums too.

Action Figure Insider

Action Figure Insider is one of the most widely recognized and widely perused action figure sites on the internet. It features every conceivable piece of action figure news, has extremely active and vibrant forums, features well written editorial pieces from time to time, includes a variety of checklists, and has wonderful event and convention photo galleries. Action Figure Insider has been around a while, and should continue to be one of the best sites around for a long while to come.
