Toy Fair 2008: Diamond Select Toys: DST has Star Wars and Indy!

Saturday February 16, 2008
In a major announcement, Diamond Select Toys has secured the license for Star Wars and Indiana Jones products. While members of the media were not allowed to take pictures, we can describe what we saw, and it can be summed up in one word: INCREDIBLE.

The most exciting items on display were 1:4 scale posable action figures of Darth Maul, Han Solo in Hoth Gear, and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guiness version). These feature 15-20 points of articulation, themed accessories, and incredible likenesses and clothing. The detail on the sculpts is definitely on par with the current quality collectors have come to expect from other companies like Gentle Giant and Sideshow. There are potentially other figures on the way. There is also a 1:4 scale Indiana Jones figure done in the same vain. The price? $75, much cheaper than I was expecting.

In addition to these figures, Diamond Select Toys will be producing a number of sculpted banks and other collectibles at an affordable price range. For Star Wars, they are also planning on creating a 1:4 scale line of rotocast Clone Troopers that would retail in the $40 range. Though many items are only proposed, Diamond Select Toys has definitely secured the license, and they are going to town with it!
