NECA just released packaged pictures of two new Rocky figures from Series 1, which are due to hit stores sometime in the next few months. I thought the previous promo images looked solid, but I'm not impressed by what these figures have to offer in their packaged form.
The packaging itself is the standard rectangular bubble that NECA always utilizes. Although it's not my favorite style of packaging, it has always functioned in protecting figures nicely. The artwork is nothing particularly stunning, and the background image doesn't seem to be personalized to the included character.
As far as the figures are concerned, these images make them look a bit disappointing. With a closer look, the likeness for Rocky seems off, if slightly better in his "fight damaged" variant. And because these figures lack a lot in the way of clothing, the articulation is too visible and distracts from the visuals.
Apollo Creed does have a considerably more accurate likeness than Rocky, and is a good sign for the rest of the line. I like practically everything NECA releases, and am a huge Rocky fan, so I'm holding out hope for this particular line.
