The Post-Holiday Collector

By , About.com GuideDecember 26, 2011

I made it through the holidays with some great new figures to call my own, and I hope every collector out there had similar luck. If you did receive a bunch of new figures, there might be some things you need to do as a good post-holiday collector.

The first thing I like to do is look my new figure up online. There may be unique features or important tips that others have identified that you need to know. You might find reviews of a figure with which you disagree, but don't let that ruin your enjoyment. If you use an online database like Collector-ActionFigures to manage your collection, this is a great time to enter them in as well, before you forget the line details or lose the accessories.

If you were unlucky enough to receive a figure you weren't exactly looking for, this is a good time to sell it. Returning a figure to the store is likely your best option for the maximum refund. But even if you opened the figure in the excitement of the season, and have since decided you don't want it, there is still hope. Selling your figures on eBay can work wonders, especially when collectors around the world have received monetary gifts over the holidays and are looking to spend.

The most important thing to do with your figures after the holidays? Play with them! Whether that means taking photos, setting them up for a display, or letting your child join in on the action, make the most out of the holiday season by enjoying your figures.
