Although I loved the original ThunderCats Classics Lion-O figure, like many I was a little surprised that Bandai decided to set the scale for the line at an imposing 8 inches. For what seems like a lifetime, collectors around the globe have complained that the much awaited ThunderCats Classics line is too big to fit with other vintage throwback lines like Masters of the Universe Classics. I too prefer my figures at a scale around 6 inches, but that hasn't stopped me from supporting the line, unlike many others who claimed they couldn't support a line that so blindly ignored the desires of fans.

Sometimes it seems the squeaky wheel does indeed get the grease, as Bandai heard those collectors' complaints and just announced that the Thundercats Classics line is more or less dead in the 8-inch scale, shortly returning in a more fitting and comfortable 6-inch scale. There seem to be plans for a Cheetara figure in the 8-inch scale, but that will likely be it in that scale. There will be a new version of Classics Lion-O in the 6-inch scale with a more dynamic head sculpt.
This news doesn't mean people have stopped complaining. Now there are suggestions that Bandai is abusing collectors who already chose to support the 8-inch line by forcing them to buy the same figures in the new scale if they want a uniform collection.
The shrinking ThunderCats Classics line is certainly good news for some and bad news for others. For me, it falls somewhere in between.
