People look at me like I have a unicorn flying out of my nose when I tell them that one of my all-time favorite movies ever is the 1982 sword and sorcery epic, Conan the Barbarian. I'm not kidding, people! This movie rules!
The tragic tale of a barbarian youth, witnessing the slaughter of his parents and fellow villagers, taken into slavery and forced into pit-fighting, only to find himself free upon the mythical world of Hyboria, where he carves out a name for himself as a thief and master swordsman, had such a profound effect on me as a kid that to this day I find myself looking back on its many life lessons to this day. Lessons such as, Don't eat lizard on a stick or If you find yourself in a romatic moment with a girl and she starts to turn into a witch, throw her in a fire. See? Good life lessons.
So, you can imagine that I was tickled pink when toymakers NECA released their series of Conan figures based on the original movie with their Pit Fighter and War Paint Conan figures, both of which I bought up faster than you can say "lamentations of the women."
Well, it appears that NECA is far from finished with honoring the greatest barbarian movie of all time with their release of the new Temple of the Serpent Conan figure, which captures the ending scenes of the movie in which Conan catches up with arch-nemesis, Thulsa Doom, and proceeds to give him a little trim off the top, right around the neck area. The figure is available for pre-order now at Entertainment Earth, and will be released in November, just in time for Thanksgiving, which will remind me of one of the things I'm most thankful for; never having been beheaded.
