Happy 25th Anniversary to Kenner's Super Powers Line!

From Reis O'Brien, About.com GuideAugust 25, 2009

I honestly can't believe that it's been 25 years since Kenner's legendary Super Powers line first hit toy shelves. For those of you not in the know, the Super Powers line was a massive collection of figures based on some of the biggest and baddest DC Comics superheroes and villains to ever grace the pages of a comic book. I had several, myself, including my beloved, and now since lost, Batman and Robin figures. Oh, how I miss them.

The line has gone down in action figure history as one of the most prolific collections produced since Kenner's Star Wars and Hasbro's G.I. Joe lines, including many figures of obscure characters never before seen in action figure form. I mean, where else could you get a Cyborg or Red Tornado figure up until that point? Nowhere, that's where. Another great memory of the Super Powers line was that every figure came with an action feature, like punching and kicking or something like that. This was a good time to be an action figure fan.

In celebration of the line's 25th anniversary, several seminal action figure and toy blogs have joined forces to write in depth posts on some of the greatest Super Powers figures of all time. Here's a (I think) complete list, listed by character:

For more information, pics and other Super Powers action figure goodies, visit Action Figure Insider's Super Powers Archive, which is packed to the gills with great stuff, including an in-depth article on the never-produced 1987 line of figures!

Now I'm off to eBay to see if I can't find a Batman and Robin.

year 2
Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, Firestorm, Red Tornado, Dr. Fate, Darkseid, Desaad, Mantis, Parademon, Steppenwolf, Kalibak

Sorry for the confusion, but that was not intended to be a list of all Super Powers figures, but rather a list of blogs showcasing a particular character for a collaborative blog effort celebrating the 25th Anniversary.

Maybe I should have listed the blogs’ names as well as the character they showcased. Sorry!

But yes, I remember the original 34 figures quite well and had a good chunk of them at one time (including the mail-away Clark Kent!).

Thanks for the input!
