The Biggest Star Wars Vehicle Ever?

Tuesday December 18, 2007
Rumors are circulating across many Star Wars collecting message boards that Hasbro may be producing an All Terrain Tactical Enforcer (AT-TE) vehicle for their 3-3/4" figure line. To the uninitiated, the AT-TE first appeared in Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and ever since then, fans have speculated whether or not Hasbro would ever produce this piece.

In a previous blog, I talked about the dilemma that collectors have with large items. If Hasbro decides to produce this vehicle, it will be expensive for them to produce, and it could retail for $100 or more. What's more, it's hard to say if this will be a retail exclusive for a store like Toys R Us or Target.

Keep in mind that this is just a rumor. No prototypes have been shown anywhere (though many are speculating that it could be shown at the International Toy Fair in February), and it's been very difficult for Hasbro to release large Star Wars vehicles, especially in non-movie years. This has a chance of being released next year because of the new CGI-animated Clone Wars cartoon and a renewed interest in all things Star Wars.

This also has the chance to be a successful release because of the popularity of every item related to clone troopers from the prequel trilogy. Though very few people could actually afford to buy multiples of such a large item, many collectors have stockpiles of clone troopers, and many would be willing to make the investment in a large vehicle or playset that caters to their collection.
